A family photo library on your own computer

Hearthkeep Home is a self-hosted family photo library. It installs like any program on a computer at home. Your family signs in to that one computer, and your whole archive is one file and one folder you can take anywhere.

What the main computer needs

  • Always onA computer that can be on most of the time.
  • Storage spacePlenty of room: ideally 1 terabyte or more.
  • Graphics card — optionalThe AI runs without one, just slower. A card makes faces, search and the rest much faster.
  • Docker — optionalIf you know it, run it that way.

Your family’s computers

Your computer runs the archive, or we do. Other computers in the family can help.

  • A standbyA relative’s computer keeps a copy and takes over when yours is off.
  • An encrypted backupA copy at a relative’s house that they cannot read.
  • An AI helper computerA computer with a graphics card finds faces for the archive and keeps no photos.

What we promise

  • On your own computer: Just your license check, plus an optional, opt-in only usage report for improving the app.Never your names, photos or anything you add.
  • Stop paying, keep your archive. On Hearthkeep Home Monthly it stays open to view and download, nothing deleted, until it’s paid again. Hearthkeep Home keeps working on the version you have. On Hearthkeep Cloud you have thirty days to take it home, and taking it home is free.

Questions

Do I need a graphics card?

No. Faces, pets, photo search and transcribing run without one, just slower. A card makes them fast.

Do I need Docker?

No. If you’re familiar with it, you can run it that way.

How is it different from Immich or PhotoPrism?

Immich and PhotoPrism are photo libraries you run yourself, and their own install guides use Docker. Hearthkeep Home installs like any program, and keeps the family tree, stories and recipes beside the photos.

What if the main computer is off?

Add a relative’s computer as a standby. It keeps a copy and takes over when yours is off.

What does Hearthkeep Home cost?

Pricing is coming soon. Every computer in the family is included, and there is a 30-day trial with everything on.
